Conference 2006 Schedule

Thank you for visiting the Ecclesiastical Law Center web site. The ELC is not a law firm which practices law, but rather a church resource center in which pastors and churches who are in need of help are able to consult with pastors who have had experience dealing with church-related problems.

The ELC was started in 1987 when 50 pastors met in an auditorium to discuss the needs churches would face in the future. From that meeting was born the Ecclesiastical Law Center, led by its director Dr. John R. Wright, then a pastor in South Bend, Indiana, and its research director, Dr. Ben Townsend, the present director and pastor of Bible Believers Fellowship Church in Northern Michigan.

Since its beginning in 1987, the Law Center has helped hundreds of churches return to the status of the Lord Jesus Christ being the sole head of His local church. We refer to this process as having a "Lordship Church". In helping in virtually all church/state conflicts, we have taken the approach that the best offense is a good defense. Thus, we help incorporated churches to unincorporate from state entanglement, and all that that move requires in order to place the church under the headship and protection of Christ.

The Law Center has chosen pastoral representatives from across the country as advisors. Their names and ministries will be listed throughout this site. Different personnel and advisors will also be detailed in the periodical publication of the Law Center, entitled "The Law Street Journal".

Again, we thank you for your interest. If we can be of service to you, please do not hesitate to contact us via our email, fax, or by phone.

Dr. Ben Townsend
Director
